Ahold Delhaize, one of the world's largest food retail groups with more than 9,400 stores across Europe, the United States and Indonesia, confirmed on 12 October that it took some systems offline after a "cybersecurity incident". The company said it was "taking steps to assess and mitigate the issue, including taking some systems offline to help protect them", and that stores remained open. The disruption nonetheless hit online fulfilment hard: Dutch stores Albert Heijn, Etos and Gall & Gall reported servers unable to process deliveries or display correct aisle prices, US operator Stop & Shop staff struggled to reach schedules and pay stubs, and a Food Lion internal memo flagged that stores "may be unable to shop, stage, or hand off orders". Ahold Delhaize did not confirm whether any devices were encrypted or data stolen. The incident is the second major security event for the group, which had personal, financial and health data of more than 2.2 million people stolen in a November 2024 INC Ransom attack on its US systems.
