Ledger has asked resellers and distributors across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong to suspend hardware wallet sales while it investigates reports that customers who bought devices through a regional reseller lost funds — with reported losses of about US$86 million across Bitcoin, Ethereum and Tron addresses — in what the company is treating as a suspected supply-chain attack on units intercepted in transit. Ledger says it has no indication that its infrastructure, systems, services or direct sales channel were compromised, and urges customers to purchase only through official stores and verify authenticity at first use. One possible explanation is wallet tampering before sale, for example an attacker supplying a recovery phrase they already know, allowing later access to deposited funds. The suspicion matches the week's broader PAT-reassignment and registry-identity thread, and carries crypto-hardware supply-chain relevance for AU/NZ consumers: treat third-party marketplace hardware wallets as untrusted until verified against Ledger's own channel.
