K-12 administration software vendor Frontline Education has notified clients that a data security incident on 14 August — addressed the next day — jeopardised personal information of employees in school districts across the United States, including Fort Worth ISD and Crowley ISD in North Texas. Crowley told staff in an email that data including names, email addresses, home addresses and Social Security numbers may have been exposed; Frontline said it will directly notify employees whose information was exposed and has notified law enforcement. Fort Worth ISD published a statement on its website, and the two districts reported the impact to parents this week. Frontline provides HR, attendance and health-tracking software used widely across US K-12 systems; the company did not say how many districts were affected, what the initial access vector was, or whether data has appeared online. The disclosure lands the same week other US districts — Springfield and Easthampton in Massachusetts — confirmed separate intrusions.
