Bennett College Data Breach Affects More Than 30,000 People

Summary

Greensboro's Bennett College, a private historically Black women's liberal-arts college, disclosed that unauthorised access to its network occurred from 27 October to 15 November last year, affecting at least 30,065 individuals including 10,875 in North Carolina, per a notification filed with the state Attorney General. Affected data may include names, Social Security numbers, driver's licence and state ID numbers, dates of birth, alien registration numbers, financial account information, taxpayer IDs, passport numbers, digital signatures, medical information and health insurance data. Ransomware monitor sites DeXpose and Galaxy Warden reported the college on Incransom's leak site on 6 December; the college has engaged forensic specialists and is offering credit monitoring.
