Ahold Delhaize said in a 19 October update that "malicious actions of others" caused the IT incident it first disclosed on 12 October, which forced the Dutch grocery group to take systems offline across most of its US and European brands. Albert Heijn, Etos and Gall & Gall websites in the Netherlands are back online, but Albert Heijn home deliveries were not expected to resume until Friday 23 October, while e-commerce for Ahold Delhaize USA brands including Food Lion and Stop & Shop remained down and was expected back "in the coming days". Belgian e-commerce and Central and South-Eastern Europe services are restored. The company filed a formal police report with Dutch police and notified the Dutch National Cyber Security Centre within 24 hours of detecting the activity, and says its investigation has so far found no evidence that sensitive customer, associate or partner data was stolen. CEO Frans Muller apologised for the disruption. With 9,551 stores, 384,000 employees and 77 million weekly customers, this is the group's second major cyber incident since the November 2024 attack claimed by INC Ransom, in which 2.2 million people's data was stolen.
